FROM THE DIRECTOR OF SIXTH FORM

We take pride in offering our Sixth Form pupils unrivalled opportunities to develop themselves, not just as independent learners but as individuals who demonstrate the Shirburnian values through everything they do.

We believe that our Sixth Form offers the very best of British education anywhere in the Middle East. Our new facilities, in the brand new Sixth Form Centre at the Grand Zone, Mall of Qatar, are second to none, giving our Sixth Formers access to an open plan research and study zone, six separate study and seminar rooms alongside a dedicated common room. Our facilities provide the dedicated space and resources for the development of the important skills and attitudes that are essential in enabling our young adults to develop and flourish.

We currently offer 24 A level courses alongside a BTEC in business studies, and as we grow as a school, we look forward to adding further options to ensure we give our pupils the best combination of subjects; offering opportunities for our pupils that we do not think can be found anywhere else in the region. We pride ourselves on having a dedicated team of specialist Sixth Form tutors who work closely with the pupils to develop the skills and confidence that will serve them as they transition from school to university. Indeed, we provide exceptional careers and university advice, building on the decisions taken in Years 9 and 11, to allow our Sixth Formers the best possible pathways to their choice of university. As a result, our alumni find themselves taking up places on the best courses at some of the best universities across the world.

We guide and support our young adults in the most important years of their school education, giving them the opportunities they need to develop into well-rounded, responsible adults. Our Sixth Form pupils work in partnership with their teachers to build a whole School community characterised by honesty, kindness, perseverance and mutual respect. Indeed, we expect our Sixth Form pupils to be responsible leaders of our school community and provide extensive opportunities for them to do so.

Our Sixth Formers enjoy a varied range of academic and pastoral opportunities which helps them develop as young adults, we do not just prepare our pupils for their exams; Sherborne Senior School Sixth Form is a preparation for life. We look forward to welcoming you to join in their success.
