OUR CURRICULUM

High standards of teaching, learning and assessment are built on a foundation of excellent pastoral care that is evident through the House system, Enrichment opportunities and charity work. The school’s model for education aims to develop independent, resilient learners who are curious, creative and not afraid to take risks.

Pre School and Reception follow the Early Years Foundation Stage, and Years 1 to 6 follow the 2014 National Curriculum of England, adapted for the local setting. Starting from EYFS, phonics skills are developed through the Read Write Inc programme, which continues into KS1 to ensure pupils are reading fluently and with accuracy, in order to begin developing their comprehension skills. Teachers are fluent in delivering Pie Corbett’s Talk for Writing. As such, English lessons are exciting and engaging, with fantastic writing skills that can be showcased across the school. Pupils are keen mathematicians who eagerly get stuck into calculations and problem solving. Through the White Rose Maths scheme, pupils are taught to apply the Concrete-Pictorial-Abstract approach to develop their understanding and tackle challenges, with a growth mindset.

Foundation subjects and Science are delivered through enquiry-based learning in order to embed and cultivate a curriculum that is relevant and purposeful. Strengthening the school’s curriculum even further are specialist teachers who deliver Arabic, Islamic Studies (for Muslim pupils), Music and French, PE and Games.

Classrooms are vibrant, stimulating and well equipped with purposeful technology that further enhances all aspects of the curriculum.

THE ENRICHMENT PROGRAMME

The Enrichment programme we offer in the Prep School is centred around encouraging pupils to engage with a broad range of activities and take on a new challenge. Delivered by our passionate and experienced teaching staff and highly qualified outside coaches, we offer between 50 and 60 weekly clubs each term. They cover the full spectrum of school activities, from science and cookery clubs to sports and the performing arts. Our Rainbow and Brownie packs allow our girls to explore what it means to be part of a global movement.

In our Enrichment programme there really is something for everyone!

Arabic and Islamic Studies

The Prep School Arabic Department is special because of its unique learning approach and the constant approval and the praise it receives from the Ministry of Education. We teach Arabic and Islamic Studies to native and non-native Arabic speakers and pupils are exposed to a structured Arabic and Islamic Studies curriculum that begins in Reception.

What makes the department exceptional is the integration of the National Curriculum. The Arabic curriculum goes hand-in-hand with the core subjects, drama, music and ICT and this plays a major role in the diverse approach of our Arabic and Islamic education.

PE and Games

The Physical Education Department provides a PE and Games programme which challenges and extends pupils of all abilities to do their best, give their best, be their best. We aim to combine exercise and physical fitness with a healthy diet and lifestyle and develop the pupils’ sporting prowess across a range of sports and activities.

We also encourage all pupils to participate in sports. There are after school and lunchtime sports clubs, many sporting events in Inter House programme and opportunities for many pupils to represent the school in sports fixtures.

We recruit teaching and support staff throughout the year which we advertise on TES Jobs. Please visit this link for details of any current opportunities.

Please note that we do not accept CVs.
