WELCOME TO
Our Early Years Foundation Stage
Our early years provision promotes independence, encouraging children them to find their own solutions and take responsibility for their own actions.
Our Heads of Year, Lindsey Wilkin (Pre-School) and Ciara Trainor (Reception) lead the fantastic teams responsible for the teaching and learning of our youngest Shirburnians.
With their own entrance to the school grounds, allocated play areas and outdoor classrooms, children have a safe and age – appropriate environment in which they can flourish.
With an emphasis on Physical Development, children have access to climbing equipment, balance beams, scooters, trikes and bikes as well as other resources to support their coordination and gross motor skills. Sand and water play promote curiosity and problem solving with creative learning opportunities provided to challenge and extend.
As part of a larger school, children have the benefit of specialist teaching staff, a wealth of resources and excellent facilities however they can enjoy all of this from the safety of their own early years area. As children progress through the school, they will gradually join House Day events, school assemblies and other events enjoyed by the wider school community.
With our older children taking on the leadership roles of responsibility, our younger children have excellent role models who demonstrate our moral values and learning dispositions in action.
We help our children to find the voice that they need to reach their full potential.
