HEIDI BERRY

Head of Pre Prep

BA (Hons) Music, Birmingham Conservatoire; PGCE Primary, Nottingham Trent University; MBA (Senior Leadership in Education), Coventry University. 

Heidi was Head of Pre-Prep at Sherborne Prep in Dorset from 2010 until 2022 when she joined Sherborne Qatar Prep School as Deputy Head / Head of Pre-Prep. She is passionate about giving young children the very best start in their educational journey, ensuring they are happy and confident to succeed.  Heidi lives with her husband in Qatar and has 3 children at University in the UK. She is a keen musician; playing violin and singing, and enjoys running to keep fit.

LINDSEY WILKIN

HEAD OF PRE SCHOOL

BSc Psychology, Loughborough University; PGCE in Early Years, Cambridge University.

Lindsey worked as an Operations Manager in London for eight years before starting a family and changing career to become an EYFS teacher. Lindsey has taught in Early Years for more than 9 years in Cambridgeshire, Lincolnshire, and Qatar. She particularly loves to find play-based ways to encourage children to develop their new skills. In her spare time, Lindsey loves to travel. She enjoys outdoor activities, especially swimming and enjoys cooking with her family.

DEBBIE EITE

Pre School Teacher

BA (Hons) English and Publishing; PGCE, University of Central England.

This is Debbie’s ninth year teaching at Sherborne Qatar. She taught in Reception for three years before moving to the Pre School team. She spent ten years working as a journalist and public relations manager in the UK before completing her PGCE and embarking on a career in teaching. She has two boys; one is in Year 11 at Sherborne Senior School and the other is playing professional rugby in the UK. Debbie enjoys travelling and reading in her spare time.

MICHELLE YOUNG

Pre School Teacher

LTCL, Trinity College of London.

Michelle is a New Zealander and a primary trained teacher, also a musician and singer, who took the role of Primary Music Specialist for the first six years of her career at two schools in New Zealand and Copenhagen International School. During six years in Shanghai, raising three small children, she trained as a Kindermusik Educator, then created and led Baby and Toddler Music Classes at various expat locations. Michelle next discovered the delight of teaching EYFS, bringing her love of music to young children at the Netherlands International School in Jakarta followed by Dukhan English School in Qatar. With the arrival of a fourth child, she has spent two years at home teaching music lessons on piano, guitar, ukulele, flute and recorder. Michelle has now been a Pre School teacher at Sherborne Prep for the last three years. Outside of school she enjoys fun activities out and about in Qatar with her family, netball, and swimming.

AMINA HASSAN

Amina worked as an Early Years Practitioner for 3 in London before completing her BA in Early Childhood Education. Amina has taught in Early Years for 6 years in London and Doha. She is very passionate about supporting students to develop a long-lasting love of learning by playing, discovering and experimenting in a safe environment. she enjoys outdoor activities and travelling.

CIARA TRAINOR

Head of Reception

BA (Hons) Education and Sport Studies, Liverpool Hope University PGCE Primary, University of Southampton.

Ciara has been a teacher for seven years. She has lived in Doha for the past six years and joined Sherborne Qatar EYFS in September 2018. Prior to this, she worked in EYFS and KS1 settings in England, Northern Ireland and in another British Curriculum school in Doha. She is passionate about children learning through continuous provision and constantly strives to adapt the children’s environment to support this. Ciara thoroughly enjoys playing sport- particularly invasion games such as Netball and the Irish sports of Gaelic Football and Camogie. She also enjoys other activities such as going to the gym, running, cycling, playing tennis and mountain walking. During the school holidays, Ciara enjoys travelling and has visited many different countries and states within Europe, North America, Asia and the Middle East.

DANIKKA BROWN

Reception Teacher

BA (Hons) in Primary Education specialising in EYFS and KS1, Roehampton University.

After graduating from Roehampton University, Danikka taught in London before relocating to Qatar in 2019. Danikka has experience in both Early Years and Key Stage 1 and has enjoyed returning to Reception at Sherborn Qatar. She is passionate about ensuring that the well-being of all children is at the centre of her teaching. She has played a role in enhancing pupil voices and implemented environmentally friendly initiatives in her schools. Her interests include yoga, reading, being creative and spending time with family and friends.

UBAH ABDI BARASAB

Reception Teacher

BA (Hons) in Early Childhood, Sheffield Hallam University; PGCE Early Years, Cambridge University.

Ubah is an experienced teacher who has worked within EYFS and KS1 settings. She has worked at Sherborne Qatar for five years and prior to this she worked in Dubai and in various schools in the UK. She is passionate about children’s books and has more recently completed an online creative writing course. Ubah enjoys spending her spare time with her family and friends. Since arriving in Doha, her love for travel and adventure has taken her to Oman, Sri Lanka, Nepal, and India.

NAZIA RAHMAN

Reception Teacher

BSc (Hons) in Information Systems, Brunel University and PGCE (specialised in Early Years), University of East London.

Nazia has lived in Doha the past six years and has taught in a British Curriculum School in Doha for 3 years. Prior to this, she taught in KS1 and EYFS settings in England.

Nazia enjoys spending time with friends and family. She enjoys reading, watching films and travelling. Since moving to Doha, she has visited Dubai, Thailand, Malaysia, Indonesia, and Turkey.

JESSICA DEANE

Head of year 1

BA (Hons) English and working with children, young people and families, Newman University PGCE Primary Wolverhampton University.

Jessica began her teaching career at Smiths Wood Primary Academy in Birmingham, where she completed her NQT year in Year 2 and was given the middle management role of Head of Year. In 2016, she moved to Qatar and was been Head of Year 1 at Newton British Academy, Al Dafna for 2 years. Jessica has a keen interest in performing arts, and dance in particular and she loves to organise performances within school. She loves travelling, cooking and spending time with her family and friends.

ABIGAIL JESSOP

HEAD OF JASSIM HOUSE, Year 1 Teacher

BA (Hons) in Coaching and Physical Education, University College Plymouth St Mark and St John; PGCE Primary Plymouth University.

Abi worked as a 1:1 SEN Teaching assistant before returning to Plymouth to complete her PGCE. Her first teaching post was as a Year 5 Form Tutor in a rural Middle School in Dorset, from there she embarked on 5 years of teaching in EYFS. Three of those years were in a small First School where she also took the lead role in PE for the school, implementing school wide initiatives to encourage children to be fit and healthy, followed by 2 years in Reception at King’s College Doha. During her time in Early Years, Abi has developed a sound knowledge and understanding of Phonics teaching and taken part in several opportunities for professional development in teaching Maths, facilitated by the NCETM Maths Hubs. Outside school Abi has several interests. She enjoys keeping active and has always been a keen swimmer, competing from a young age and playing water polo at university. She also enjoys cycling and loves to refuel by baking up some treats in the kitchen to share with her friends over coffee.

NICOLE CHAMBERS

HEAD OF POWYS HOUSE, Year 1 Teacher

BA(Hons) Primary Education, Manchester Metropolitan University.  

Nicole is from Wigan, a small town close to Manchester, famous for Uncle Joe’s Mint Balls, rugby and pies. Nicole studied to be a Primary School Teacher at Manchester Metropolitan University, specialising in EYFS. After graduating in 2015, Nicole travelled around South East Asia and Australia before returning to the UK, working in paediatric complex care and coaching a disability rugby team. Nicole then moved to Doha in 2018, working at her previous school as a KS1 class teacher then Key Stage Coordinator for Years 1-3. In her spare time, Nicole enjoys running, working out and playing netball.

ROXANA PEERZADA

Year 1 Teacher

BSc (Hons) Biological Sciences and PGCE Primary Education, University of the West of England.

Roxana is originally from Zimbabwe and has lived in Canada, South Africa, the U.K. and now Qatar. She has been fortunate enough to work with children in most of these countries. Roxana completed her PGCE in Bristol, where she thoroughly enjoyed working in both Key Stages 1 and 2. She taught Year 2 for two years at an independent school near Bristol before joining Sherborne Qatar. In her spare time, Roxana enjoys yoga and swimming. teaching Maths, facilitated by the NCETM Maths Hubs. Outside school Abi has several interests. LUCY MCFAUL

Head of year 2

BA (Hons) Education and Early Childhood Studies, Liverpool Hope University; Primary PGCE, Liverpool Hope University.

After completing her undergraduate degree in Education and Early Childhood in 2015, Lucy completed her Primary PGCE in 2016. Before joining Sherborne Qatar, Lucy worked as a Year 1 teacher for three years in the UAE, where she also held the position of Reading and Phonics Coordinator (an area that she is particularly passionate about). Lucy joined the Year 2 team at Sherborne Qatar in August 2019 and has also held the position of Head of Year 2 since August 2020. Lucy enjoys reading and keeping active in her spare time. Since living in the Middle East, she has enjoyed travelling to different countries such as Australia, Oman and Sri Lanka.

ROBERT BRIDLE

Year 2 Teacher

Rob completed his teaching degree seven years ago at the University of Chichester and he has been working in England and Qatar ever since. He has worked in schools in Brighton and London and then moved to Qatar in 2018. Rob has spent the last few years as Head of Year 1 before moving to Sherborne Qatar. In his spare time Rob enjoys football, reading, swimming and spending time with his family.

ELLIE JONES

Year 2 Teacher

BA (Single Hons) History, Queens University Belfast; PGDE General Primary, Liverpool John Moores University; MA in Educational Practice, Liverpool John Moores University.

Gemma is from a small village in county Derry in Ireland. She completed her PGDE in Liverpool and qualified as a primary school teacher in June 2018. She moved to Qatar in August 2018 and taught Year 5 for one year, Year 4 for the last two years and now teaches Year 2. Gemma was the Reading Lead at her previous school and her own passion for reading helped motivate this role. She loves arts and crafts and reading in her spare time. Gemma is also a huge musical fan, leading the ‘Singing Club’ at her previous school and incorporating her experience of dance and drama. Her family and friends are extremely important to her, along with staying active and healthy.

SINEAD FERGUSON

Sinead used to be a Teaching Assistant and she has worked in many schools in London. After completing her degree, she trained to teach and has worked in Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2. She taught in Year 2 for three years before coming to Qatar and she has taught in our Pre School ever since. Sinead enjoys learning new things and going on adventures. She also enjoys baking and creating things.

ANDY BRAY

Deputy Head / Head of Key Stage 2

BA (Hons) in Sport Development, Edge Hill University, Schools Direct Teacher Training, Bradford College.

Andy worked in Sport Development for several years before pursuing a career in teaching. He started his teaching career in West Yorkshire and taught Year 3 up to Year 6 at three different schools. Andy then moved to Sherborne Qatar in 2017 and became the Head of Lower Key Stage 2 in 2018. At the start of the 2022-23 Academic Year, Andy became Deputy Head and Head of Key Stage 2. He enjoys various sports including running and squash and is particularly proud of the fundraising challenge that Nick (Headmaster) and Andy completed in April 2022 where they ascended the 51 flights of steps inside the iconic Torch tower, 31 times, equalling a similar height to Mount Everest. This generated an incredible and much needed total of £4,417 for our partner schools in Cambodia and took a total of 23.5 hours over two days!

JESSICA NEWSOME

Head of Year 3

BA (Hons) Primary Education with QTS, Manchester Metropolitan University.

Originally from a town near Leeds, West Yorkshire, Jessica moved to Crewe to attend Manchester Metropolitan University where she completed a four-year degree in Primary Education with QTS. Jessica then taught in Stoke-on-Trent, where she completed her NQT year in Year 5 before moving to Year 6. She moved to Qatar in 2017 and she taught Year 5 in her previous school for three years as well as being the subject leader for English. In her spare time Jessica loves to play netball and attend the gym. She is also an avid reader.

KATHRYN MILLS

Year 3 Teacher

Kathryn has been teaching at Sherborne Qatar since 2014. After five years teaching Reception, she moved to Year 3 in 2019. With over 20 years teaching experience in both England and Qatar, Kathryn

loves to find new ways to inspire creativity and make learning fun. Kathryn has taught all year groups within Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2. She was school SENCo and subject leader for Maths in her previous role. Kathryn is well known across the school for her love of Zumba and dance. She also enjoys swimming and ice-skating. Kathryn especially loves to spend time with her husband and two sons here in Doha.

MATTHEW FROST

Matthew grew up in the city of Bradford, West Yorkshire. His passion for working with children began when he moved to Newcastle to work as an outdoor activity leader. This experience led to him working in the USA, teaching outdoor education at a summer camp. Matthew completed his degree at Manchester Metropolitan University and PGCE at Leeds Trinity University before moving to Qatar. He has lived in Doha for four years and two of these have been in Year 3 at Sherborne Qatar Preparatory School. His hobbies include playing football and travelling.

SALLY NIXON

HEAD OF IRONS HOUSE, YEAR 3 TEACHER

Sally is originally from a small village called Harriseahead, Stoke on Trent, in the UK. She studied to become a Primary School Teacher at Manchester Metropolitan University, specialising in Art. After graduating in 2015, Sally spent 18 months travelling around various parts of Australia and South East Asia before returning to the UK to work as a Year 1 class teacher. Following her move to Qatar in 2017 she has worked as a Year 1, Year 2 and Year 3 class teacher, as well as leading a Key Stage 1 team and phonics throughout her previous school.

Ed is from a small town called Northallerton in the county of North Yorkshire, England. His passion for working with children began after teaching outdoor education at a summer camp in the USA. After teaching a sport-based life skills programme in Primary schools across the North of England, Ed went back to university to become a teacher. Since completing his PGCE, Ed has volunteered at a Primary school in South Africa and spent a year teaching a Year 4 class in Yarm, North Yorkshire. His hobbies include travelling and many sports. He especially enjoys Football and American Football. Ed is entering his second year teaching at Sherborne Preparatory School.

Holly completed her degree at Leeds Trinity University and PGCE at Edge Hill University before moving to Qatar. She has lived in Doha for two years, working in both Sherborne Qatar School for Girls and Sherborne Qatar Preparatory School. Holly has taught Year 4 in both schools. When not teaching, Holly enjoys reading, travelling and keeping active at the gym.

Hailing from Galway in the west of Ireland, James has been teaching for over 8 years. Having previously taught in Doha College, this is not James’ first time in Doha. He is very much looking forward to working in Sherborne and meeting all the wonderful pupils and staff he has heard so much about. In his spare time, James loves swimming, running, golf, football and spending time with his wife and son. James is excited to return to the amazing cuisine and the huge range of activities Doha has to offer!

DAITHI COLTON

 Daithi is from County Monaghan, Ireland. Daithi completed his PGCE in Liverpool in 2018 and then taught for two years as a KS2 teacher in London. Daithi has taught a further two years as a Year 6 teacher in an International School in Doha. In his spare time Daithi enjoys a wide variety of sports –

particularly Gaelic Football, Basketball, Football and Golf. Keeping fit and active is a very important part of his routine. He is always ready to try and explore new things. Daithi enjoys visiting different countries and learning about new cultures. He has most recently visited India, Kenya and the Seychelles. He is excited to start in Sherborne.

KATIE GITTINS

Katie is a passionate and caring teacher who enjoys being creative with the curriculum. She studied for an undergraduate degree in English Literature in Liverpool where she grew a passion for inspiring children to bring characters to life through story writing. During her teacher training she taught across Key Stage One and Key Stage Two in a diverse setting. Katie joined Sherborne Qatar Prep School in 2019 and she loves being part of such a warm community. Over the last few years, she has thrived in being a House Leader and helping to develop the use of technology. Outside of work, Katie has a keen interest for travelling to experience different cultures. She also enjoys reading a wide range of genres and listening to live music.

LAURA DOYLE

Head of English, Year 5 Teacher

Laura has been teaching for nine years and is dedicated to providing learning and teaching experiences that benefit the needs of all children. She has taught a variety of year groups in Scotland over the years and this will be her second year working at Sherborne. Laura is committed to continuing her own professional development and graduated this summer from the University of Glasgow with a Masters Degree in Educational Studies. She believes that all children are able to achieve success and promotes a growth mindset within her classroom, encouraging children to believe that practice makes progress!

MATTHEW OSBORN

PGCE Primary Education (Northumbria University).

Matthew is an enthusiastic, caring teacher who hails from Leeds, England. He has 11 years total experience and is entering his second year at Sherborne Prep. Matthew has a background in sport and exercise and therefore has a real interest in physical education, health and wellbeing. Inside the classroom, his favourite subject is Maths and he also enjoys Science. Matthew also has a keen interest in the use of technology in education. Outside the classroom, he is a keen rugby player and coach, as well as an avid supporter of football (especially Leeds United) and an all-round sports fan, who is very much looking forward to the World Cup 2022.

GENEVIEVE DAVIES

Year 5 Teacher

BA (Hons) Philosophy and Religious Studies, University of Kent. PGDE Primary Education, University College London.

Before qualifying as a teacher, Genevieve tutored GCSE English Literature and Language and worked in London as a Year 3 Teaching Assistant. Genevieve trained with the Teach First Graduate Scheme in London and gained her Post-Graduate Diploma of Education from University College London. After working as a Year 5 teacher in London for two years, Genevieve moved to Qatar to teach at Sherborne. Genevieve has a passion for researched-informed practice in the classroom and encourages children to become life-long learners. In her spare time, she enjoys reading, listening to podcasts, exercising through yoga and travelling with friends.

HOLLIE STEELE

Head of Year 6

BA(Hons) in Education with Sport and Physical Activity, PGCE, Kingston University.

Hollie was born and raised in the county of Dorset, England. Inspired by her teachers, she knew that teaching was her career path from a young age. She studied Education Studies with Sport at The University of Wales Institute Cardiff, moving on to complete her teacher training back in Dorset. Hollie has taught both Year 5 and 6 for three years in Dorset school. The sun was calling so Hollie moved to Qatar back in 2017 where she worked in an international school for two years before joining the Sherborne team. Hollie is now in her fourth year at Sherborne where she has enjoyed teaching Year 6. Hollie is a keen netball player, loves all things creative and crafty and is a HUGE Harry Potter fan. She loves to fact that teaching in Qatar brings so many wonderful different cultures together in one place- there’s always so many exciting things to learn!

GAIL WILLIAMS

Year 6 Teacher, Year 3 and 4 Music Teacher and House Leader of AmnA

BA Education (Hons) Exeter University.

Gail taught at Clayesmore Preparatory School in Dorset and Norman Court Preparatory School, Salisbury in both Reception and Year 2 until joining Sherborne Qatar when the school opened in 2009. Gail has taught Year 3 and Year 6 in the Prep School and she also enjoys teaching music in Years 3 and 4. She has a wide experience of library work, Brownies, producing school musicals and is a keen cook, singer and craft worker. She is married to Richard and is mother of Rachael and Christopher who were both pupils in the school. She has thoroughly enjoyed her first year in Sherborne and is looking forward to making more memories.

GRAINNE O’CARROLL

BEd (Hons) Primary Teaching with History, St. Mary’s University College Belfast.

Gráinne is from Derry in the North of Ireland and has been teaching for the past four years. After finishing university, she moved to London and worked there as a Year 5 and Year 6 teacher. After that, she made the move to Doha, Qatar where she taught for two years in a British International School as a Year 6 class teacher. She has a passion for teaching and encourages creativity and imagination in her class. Gráinne’s main interests include keeping active, paddle boarding, cooking new recipes, speaking Irish, animals and traveling the world. She is excited for her new adventure at Sherborne.

STACEY DUNCAN

Head of Innovation and Learning Technologies, Year 6 Teacher

MA Primary Education with Teaching Qualification, The University of Glasgow, Scotland.

After completing her four-year undergraduate degree in Primary Education, Stacey taught in her home country, Scotland, before moving to Qatar in 2017. Since then, she has taught both KS1 and KS2 at British Curriculum schools in Doha, with the last two years spent in Year 1 at Sherborne. Both in and out of school, Stacey enjoys sporting events and loves getting involved in art projects. She spends her free time reading, going to the gym, visiting delicious food spots and travelling.

SARAH NICHOLLS

Head of PE and Games

BEd (Hons) in Secondary Physical Education with QTS.

Sarah was born and raised in Somerset just a few miles down the road from Sherborne UK. As a she grew up, she participated in many sports including Synchronised Swimming for 9 years, Hockey, Netball and many more. She went on to play Water Polo for her county and she has taken part in open water swimming challenges. She trained a team of 12 year olds to swim the English Channel and has swum from Asia to Europe herself. Sarah began her teaching career at Taunton Prep School (UK) as a Games Teacher and Resident House Tutor, in their boarding house. She then moved to Qatar in 2018 and worked as Head of Girls Games and Head of Year at King’s College Doha for a further 3 years, before moving to Sherborne Qatar Prep as a PE teacher and Head of House.

THOMAS LOGAN

Tom was born and raised in Northern Ireland before moving to Liverpool in England, to study to become a PE teacher. He later graduated from Loughborough University with QTS. Tom has always had a love for cricket, rugby, and football, both as a performer and in coaching roles. He has been lucky enough to tour South Africa playing rugby and later returned in a teaching role. He has served as a PE teacher in England before moving to Qatar in 2020. He has experience coaching national school teams in rugby and football in England. He has also worked as a Head of House as well as leading the Duke of Edinburgh Award for pupils and allowing them to explore different countries! He is now excited about making the move to Sherborne Qatar.

SIMON MCDONOUGH

Head of Enrichment, PE TEACHER

Teacher training BA Hons Degree with QTS at John Moores University (Liverpool, GB)  

This is Simon’ s ninth year working in Doha.  Prior to working at Sherborne Qatar Simon was Head of PE at his last school. Simon really enjoys his roles and responsibilities within the school making sure high-quality PE lessons are taught to all pupils as well as organising sport fixtures through QPPSSA and friendly matches between other schools in Doha. He believes that every child should be inspired to achieve and reach their maximum potential. This is accomplished through being an approachable, enthusiastic, dedicated, and trustworthy teacher. 

Prior to moving to Doha, Simon studied in the UK where he achieved his teaching degree and worked for two years before moving to Qatar. Simon’s hobbies & interests are mostly sport related. He likes to be involved in sport a lot and his favourite sports are Gaelic football, rugby, and football.  He also works for the European Tour Golf competitions in the Middle East and in the UK as a scorer for the television sports channels.

RAZWAN SARWAR

Head of Music and Productions

Master of Arts and Postgraduate Certificate in Middle Leadership, BA (Hons) Combined Business Marketing, Huddersfield University; PGCE in Business Studies with Citizenship Enhancement with QTS, Huddersfield University; National Diploma in Popular Music, Oldham College; BTEC in Classical Asian Music, Rochdale.

Razwan has been the Head of Music at Sherborne Qatar Prep School for the past seven years and his added role as the Head Productions will allow further expansion of the Arts. Razwan’s recent additions of a Recording Studio, Visual Room, Video Editing Suite and Drama venue will allow for the pupils to experience the arts from a 21st century perspective. He is a composer and conductor and has created many new compositions for Sherborne Qatar and develops innovative events annually. Razwan continues to establish different ensembles and pupils are exposed to different artistic talents for inspiration. Razwan oversees a successful and growing, one to one instrumental music programme and he has also established the school as an ABRSM and Rock School music examination centre.

Razwan’s main instrument is the piano but he also plays various percussion instruments. His other interests include music technology, travelling, sports and food.

BASSAM DAHBOUR

Mr Bassam has 31 years’ experience teaching Arabic studies in Doha, at both primary and senior levels. He also teaches adult students Arabic and Islamic studies. Mr Bassam has worked with the MOI to set examination standards for Arabic. Outside school, he enjoys swimming, football, reading, and is very interested in world news.

SUZAN SAADA

Higher Diploma in Child Education, University of Balqa. Specialization in Primary Education.

Suzan Saada is a Jordanian teacher who has taught children for over 17 years. She has been at Sherborne Qatar for the past 11 years. Prior to that she worked at the Al Wajba Government School as a teacher and Head of the Special Needs Centre. Suzan has completed countless courses regarding education, Arabic, culture, and Islamic Studies, such as Leaders of Learning from Harvard, and Criteria of Teaching from the Ministry of Education. She has also gained experience in teaching Arabic to adults. In her free time, Suzan enjoys spending time with her family, cooking, and swimming. She loves organizing various events in school such as Qatar National Day and Arabic Day.

ASMAA SABIH

Asmaa is originally from India and has born, lived, and studied in Saudi Arabia at an Arabic school. She went to India for her higher studies where she has completed her undergraduate course and worked as an Arabic teacher for 5 years. She has lived in Saudi Arabia, India, UAE and Qatar. She has enjoyed teaching Arabic for non-native speakers in another British curriculum school in Doha before moving to Sherborne Qatar. Asmaa spends her free time reading, enjoying time with her family and visiting her favourite malls & restaurants. g to Sherborne Qatar Prep as a PE teacher and Head of House.

FATIMA ALSAIFI

Bachelor of Sharia and Islamic Studies, Qatar University.

After completing her four year undergraduate degree in Sharia and Islamic Studies, Fatima taught Year 1 in Al-Wakrah Primary School for girls for 2 years and, before moving to Sherborne Qatar, at another school for 4 years. She was a teacher and subject coordinator at both her previous schools. She has attended many workshops and seminars. Fatima loves cooking and she is also a coffee lover. She spends her free time reading and spending time with her family.

AMANI AL HADDAD

BA in Arabic Language, Hashemite University of Jordan.

Amani is an Arabic language teacher for Years 1 and 2. She worked as an Arabic language teacher for the primary stage for five years at Al-Ghanim Bilingual School in Kuwait. After getting married she lived in Kuwait for six years and gave birth to two daughters. When her family moved to Qatar, she joined the staff at Sherborne Qatar Prep School. Amani loves nature very much, especially the sea and beautiful gardens. Her hobbies include photography and art.

Samia from Palestine, has lived in Qatar since childhood. She has six years of experience in teaching Arabic at Gulf English School, then 12 years of experience in teaching Arabic and Islamic education at Sherborne Qatar. In her free time, she likes to sit with the family, travel with them in nature, draw and go for a walk.

IMENE BOUADI

Arabic and Islamic studies teacher (for Arabic non-native speakers)

BA Certificate in Arts and Foreign Languages, Oran university, Algeria.

Imene is originally From Algeria. She has a BA Certificate in Arts and Foreign languages, and studied in Algeria at the university of Oran, where she obtained her License in Languages and Didactics of Spanish as a foreign language. She then continued her studies for master’s degree in Translation and interpreting: Arabic- French – English at the Institute of Translation, Ahmed Ben Bella University. Imene taught Arabic and Islamic studies in a primary school for two years, then joined her husband in Qatar. After giving birth to her daughter, she joined Sherborne Qatar to teach Arabic and Islamic for Non-Native speakers. She enjoys walking in quiet and beautiful places, she also has a passion for traditional jewellery and outfits.

YASMEEN MUHANNAD ABU-GHAZALEH

Arabic and Islamic Studies Teacher (for EYFS pupils)

BA (Hons) Primary Education with a concentration in Early Childhood, Qatar University.

Yasmeen is a primary educator specialised in early childhood. She graduated top of her class from Qatar University, obtained the order of excellence award, and was on both the Dean’s and Vice President’s list for four years. After working as a form teacher in another international British school, she joined the Sherborne family as an EYFS Specialist with a mission to share her love for Arabic and make it fun and enjoyable for her learners. She is extremely passionate about education and is in constant search of creative teaching methods. Yasmeen considers herself to be on a lifelong learning journey and is always attending courses and trainings that come her way. In her free time, Yasmeen loves to travel and explore. She never says no to an adventure which led her to become a licensed paramotor pilot as well as a certified scuba diver. Yasmeen is also deeply passionate about volunteering, especially in refugee camps, as well as practicing her traditional Palestinian dance “Dabke” with her friends. To wind down, her calmer hobbies include designing, crochet and knitting with her grandmother.

NADIA SULAIMAN

Nadia has been in Doha for several years and before joining Sherborne Qatar she taught at Compass International School and Al Jazeera Academy. Before that she taught for several years at ACS International School, Egham, Surrey. A Gulf lady in origin she spent much of her childhood in France and she has also lived in London.

AMY BRAY

Head of Learning Intervention

BSc (Hons) in Psychology, University of Central Lancashire; Schools Direct Teacher Training, Bradford College.

After completing her degree in Psychology Amy set up and managed a nurture group for vulnerable children and those with additional educational needs within a Bradford primary school. She worked with children from Reception to Year 6 and their parents to create individualised learning plans to support their needs. Since starting her teacher career, Amy has taught from Reception to Year 3. This will be Amy’s 5th year at Sherborne Qatar. Alongside teaching, Amy successfully completed her Postgraduate Certificate in Middle Leadership with Buckingham University. Amy loves spending time with her husband, son and friends in Doha. She enjoys participating in sport and has completed various charity events including a 100-mile bike ride and a 13 mile obstacle race.

LARISSA HUGHES

Learning Intervention Teacher

B.Ed University of Reading.

Larissa has been teaching for over 20 years across the primary phase. She has held a number of senior management roles including Assistant Head, acting Deputy Head and most recently SENCo at another international school here in Doha. She is well aware of life at an international school, having spent 6 years in Doha as a child, attending both primary and secondary school here. Her return in 2019 with her husband was like coming home, but to a very different Doha to when she left in 1992! Larissa enjoys spending time in nature with her husband, particularly birdwatching – both in and around Doha, and across the world. She also has a love of Formula 1 motor racing having travelled to a number of races.
